COMMUNITY GROUPS
Groups from two cities enjoy apple butter fest
by Douglas Braun
Burton, Ohio-The chill of fall was fresh with excitement. It was a good day for the Burton Apple Butter Festival, and a good day for the first joint event between Fifty Plus, of Columbus, and Gray Pride, of Cleveland.
Both groups are for lesbian, gay, bi and trans people over 50 and their friends. We had a total of 16 people attend.
DOUGLAS BRAUN
The October 10 festival, about 20 miles east of Cleveland, had many different aspects. It featured several craft barns, an operating steam-powered lumber mill, old farm engines, historic buildings, and of course, eight large copper pots of apple butter in the making. What does this have to do with gay people? Hey, we were there, we enjoyed ourselves, and we got to share ideas. We had such a good time we will get together again. Gray Pride will have a potWatching apples being boiled into butter are, luck on Tuesday, November 10 from left, Lenn Gradeck, Stanley Mason and Ed at 5:30 p.m. at the Lakewood Kolk, all of Cleveland; and Fifty Plus president Senior Center West, 16024 Ed Phillips, of Columbus. Madison Ave. The guest speaker
is Toby Oster, from American Express Financial Services. For more information, call 216-791-8039, ext. 328. All are welcome.
Fifty Plus also has potlucks, card nights, outings, and other activities. For
more information about Fifty Plus, call 614-627-1046.
